Deep Draft Chartering

About

Built by maritime professionals with seagoing experience

Deep Draft Chartering provides independent shipbroking to charterers, owners and operators who want commercially sharp advice grounded in practical operational judgment.

Leadership

Seagoing experience behind every fixture

Ivan Garcia Suarez, CEO of Deep Draft Chartering, brings a seagoing and operational background across oil/product cargoes and general cargo. His experience includes Chief Officer-level roles with Marflet Marine and Murueta, previous agency experience with Berge, and academic training in Nautical Engineering at the Escuela Superior de Náutica y Máquinas de A Coruña.

That combination — bridge-level responsibility, cargo operations, port agency work and formal nautical engineering — shapes how Deep Draft Chartering assesses enquiries, structures fixtures and supports execution.

Based in A Coruña, Spain, Deep Draft Chartering combines seagoing experience, port-side perspective and commercial shipbroking judgment.

Deep Draft Chartering is not a generic brokerage desk. The firm is built by maritime professionals who understand cargo operations, vessel constraints, port realities, weather windows and the pressure of laytime — because they have lived it at sea.

The practice was established to serve principals who prefer focused, partner-level attention over the volume-driven approach of larger brokerage organisations. We work selectively, taking on mandates where our operational and commercial experience adds genuine value.

Whether you are fixing a product cargo, seeking tonnage for a general cargo programme, or requiring discreet support on a sensitive fixture, we approach every enquiry with the same standard of professionalism, confidentiality and commercial rigour.

Our focus

  • Oil and product cargo chartering
  • General and breakbulk cargo movements
  • Voyage and time charter arrangements
  • Port and operational feasibility assessment
  • Laytime and voyage execution support

Principles

How we work

Four principles guide every engagement — from the first enquiry to fixture completion.

Operational credibility

Our advice is informed by time at sea — not only market data. We understand how cargoes behave, how vessels operate and what can go wrong in port.

Discretion

Sensitive fixtures, strategic cargo programmes and off-market enquiries are handled with strict confidentiality. Market exposure is managed deliberately.

Commercial acuity

We bring disciplined chartering knowledge to every fixture — understanding freight markets, positioning dynamics and the terms that protect the principal.

Relationships

Shipbroking is a people business. We invest in long-term relationships with charterers, owners and operators who value reliable, execution-focused support.
